POSITION OVERVIEW:
To work with the Summer Camp Director to supervise and advise the Cabin Counselors.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist in Hiring, supervising, and evaluating the Cabin Counselors.
Help provide an atmosphere for developing good morale and well-being among the Camp Daggett family.
Assist in overseeing arrival and departures of summer campers.
Help develop routines, schedules, and procedures for summer camp operations.
Help procure all equipment and supplies needed for the summer camp camper cabins.
Coordinate with the Maintenance Director the maintenance needs of the camper cabins.
Keep inventories and records of equipment used for the camper cabins.
Assist the Summer Camp Director with coordinating with the State of Michigan Inspectors, the Maintenance Director and the Executive Director with all licensing necessary for compliances for the operation of a summer camp.
Assist the Summer Camp Director in supervising and evaluating the camp aids.
Hold weekly meetings with the cabin counselors during each summer camp session.
Create and complete the camper list prior to the Sunday meeting each session.

Help plan and run Initiation each week in support of the Assistant Director of Programs.

REPORTS TO: Summer Camp Director
POSITION OVERVIEW:
To work with the Summer Camp Director to coordinate all aspects of the day camp.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist in Hiring, supervising, and evaluating all day camp staff.
Coordinating with the Adventure Education Director the use of the indoor facility, outdoor ropes course, and the wilderness program as they relate to the day camp program.
Prepare and continually update the day camp handbooks.
Coordinate with the Summer Camp Director to ensure day camp stays in budget.
Procure all equipment and supplies needed for the day camp program.
Coordinate with the Maintenance Director the maintenance needs of the day camp program.
Coordinate with the Communications Director to send out surveys to day camp families.
Meet as necessary with the Assistant Director of Programs in coordinating the program areas and their directors in carrying out the summer daily programs.
Manage the check in and check out procedures for camper registration.
Keep inventories and records of equipment used for the summer camp program.
Coordinate with the State of Michigan Inspectors, the Maintenance Director, the Executive Director and the Summer Camp Director all licensing necessary for mandatory compliances necessary for the operation of a summer camp.
Assist the Summer Camp Director in the planning, supervision, and evaluating of program and service campers.
Create a schedule and curriculum of daily operations for day camp, in coordination with the Summer Camp Director.

Have a minimum of 8 weeks of cumulative full-time experience working with a population similar to that which Camp Daggett serves.
Have a minimum of 4 weeks of full-time administrative experience in an organized camp or similar program.
Shall be familiar with these administrative rules set forth by LARA.

REPORTS TO: Summer Camp Director

To work with the Summer Camp Director to coordinate all camper and staff health concerns throughout the summer.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Coordinate the nursing program with the Summer Camp Director
Requisition materials needed in the nursing program from the Summer Camp Director.
Keep on file health information for campers and staff.
Store and distribute necessary medications to the campers and staff.
Enforce the rules as outlined in Act 116 of the Public Acts of 1973 that pertain to Health for the licensing of children’s camps in Michigan.
Keep standing orders on file from a physician named by the Executive Director.
Establish emergency procedures in case of health problems that might arise.
Keep a log of the treatment given to all campers and staff members.
Outline daily procedures for camp health surveillance.
Aid in dealing with camper homesickness.
Keep the nursing station in a manner that is consistent with good, clean, and sanitary conditions.
Inventory the nurse’s area at the end of the camping season and recommend changes to the camp directors any needs for the next season.
Coordinate with Camper parents before each session about any health information that should be addressed prior to the camper's arrival.
Communicate all camper and staff dietary needs with the kitchen, and ensure the needs are met at every meal.
Check-in all campers medication during registration on Sunday and return all medication during check-out on Saturdays.

Minimum of 40 hours of medical training is required. American Red Cross - Responding to Emergencies Course is recommended.

REPORTS TO: Summer Camp Director
POSITION OVERVIEW:
To work with the Summer Camp Director and coordinate all needs for campouts and assist with any maintenance that may be needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist in Initiation Ceremony where needed.
Aid Area Directors and Cabin Counselors in the maintenance of their areas and cabins if necessary.
Remove all garbage and refuse to dumpster area and keep the area in a safe and sanitary condition.
Supervise and assist the Service Campers.
Pack all campout materials with the assistance of camp aids.
Coordinate the delivery of all campout materials each session.
Supervise the cleaning of bathhouse facilities daily and supply the bathhouse facilities with the necessary items to keep them in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition.
Supply main camp & all the campsites with firewood.
Maintain the campout shed and campout materials in an organized fashion.
Coordinate with the Assistant Directors any special projects that may involve the use of maintenance tools, equipment, or skills of the maintenance personnel.
Maintain grounds in a condition of repair that is safe and generally accepted as aesthetically pleasing.
Troubleshoot areas of the camp that may prove to be dangerous to campers and staff’s safety and report to Summer Camp director and Maintenance director.
Cover in cabins or in areas as needed.
Cover for the health supervisor when needed.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
To live in the cabins with campers, manage the campers to ensure they are following all camp rules and to work with the Assistant Director of Cabin Counseling to ensure your cabin is following all policies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Practice camp safety with campers, equipment, and buildings while in camp.
Assure attendance of campers under their supervision at their cabins’ assigned activity periods.
Watch the campers under their supervision, making sure they are neat, clean, and changing their clothes regularly.
Assure the campers comfort in their cabins, both physically and emotionally.
Establish rules of order within their assigned cabins and keep their assigned cabins in safe and clean conditions.
Take their campers on one camp out each week.
Make sure all their assigned campers wake up by 7:30. or earlier if they are participating in special morning events. All other campers need to be awake by 8:00
Make sure all campers eat their meals and use proper manners at their tables.
Make sure that their assigned campers behave properly.
Aid the area directors in the teaching of classes during scheduled class periods.
Plan, coordinate, supervise, and participate in skits that are assigned to their cabins.
Stay in the assigned cabins until campers are asleep.
Be an acceptable role model for your campers to emulate.
Report to the Assistant Director of Cabin Counseling problems that may arise regarding the discipline of your campers.
Report to the Assistant Director and/or nurse problems that may arise concerning campers’ health, inclusive of homesickness.
Report any signs of physical or emotional abuse from parents or guardians, noticed by you or reported by campers, to the Assistant Director of Cabin Counseling or the Summer Camp director. This is your responsibility...do not be negligent!!
Be on time to your assigned activity and remain until the activity period is over.

Campers are 5-12 years old and are grouped by age, manage the campers to ensure they are following all camp rules and to work with the Assistant Director of Day Camp Operations to ensure your group is following all policies.

REPORTS TO: Summer Camp Director
POSITION OVERVIEW:
A two week volunteer program that assists with the daily operations of camp and prepares the individual to possibly be a Counselor in Training one day.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Help area directors perform assigned duties.
Help area directors prepare and take down night activities.
Observe the overall operation of camp.
Help counselors handle special needs, such as wet sleeping bags, snacks, sorting cabin mail, etc.
Aid Summer maintenance and campout Supervisor with overnight camping preparations and clean up.
Help clean Egypt and Israel between camping sessions, remove trash from dining hall and other camp areas after all meals (take to dumpster), sweep dining hall floors after every meal, and put all recyclable materials in appropriate places.

Observe techniques of counselors used for establishing rules and enforcing them, meeting physical and emotional needs of campers, and the coordinating and supervising cabins.
Observe overall operation of a cabin counselor.
Be able to supervise a camper cabin in the last week of training under the direction of a counselor while meeting the criteria as laid out in the job description of a counselor.
Help the area director to whom they are assigned to teach area classes.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
This job includes emphasis on using the principles embodied in the Full Value agreement of working as a team, being safe, and speaking up.
Attendance and active participation in all scheduled summer camp activities while on duty.
Other duties as necessary as assigned by the Summer Camp Director
REQUIREMENTS:
16 years old or older, or one year as a service or program camper.
Interest and desire to work with staff and children and in becoming a cabin counselor at Camp Daggett is preferred.
A recommendation from three non-relatives is required.
May not have been convicted of a felony
